The Bridge To Caracas

I spent my entire working life in the oil industry in Canada. The first half of my career was with the two largest oil companies in the world: Exxon and Royal Dutch Shell. The second half was with on of the world's smallest oil companies: my own. Shortly after I sold in 1989 and disappeared into obscurity, I had dinner with a neighbour, who asked me what I did during my working life. After too many bottles of wine and my story, my neighbor was amazed. "That's incredible!" he said. "You've got to tell that story. Write a book."

I was flattered, but told him I had never written anything longer than a long essay in college. He still insisted that I write the book, repeating that the story had to be told.

Six months later at my Florida home, it rained hard, so hard that it was impossible to play golf. I picked up a pad of legal size paper and started writing, long hand. Eight years later, I had a manuscript. "The Bridge To Caracas" was born. It's faction. To say that I had an exciting career would be a world class understatement!
